Description
Description
The EPIC FREESTYLE can handle maneuvers and transitions, but its true beauty—and the reason instructors love it so much—is that it’s really forgiving. It’ll let you explore and master maneuvers but will save you if you get the timing a little off.
BGD 's Epic Freestyle is an ideal paraglider for getting started in acro; with its EN-B certification, it remains forgiving even if your timing is off. Derived from the Epic 1, it will also perform exceptionally well whether you're flying locally or on cross-country flights.
Technical Specifications from the Epic FreeStyle by BGD
Diagonal C-rib with three branches
BGD has designed a diagonal support system consisting of three pieces that run along the entire length of the airfoil, passing through openings in the adjacent ribs. These ensure structural integrity and provide greater strength even when the brakes are engaged. This is particularly important near the trailing edge, where the airfoil is thin and the diagonals have little height to support the load.
Weight-optimized ribs on Epic FreeStyle BGD
BGD BGD ed the strength and stiffness of the ribs while removing all unnecessary material. This ensures a reduced weight without increasing manufacturing costs or weakening the wing. The size and position of the holes are calculated based on the local loads on the wing, and it is thanks to recent software developments that can calculate this precisely.
Cord Cut Billow from the Epic FreeStyle BGD
Special cutting of the leading-edge panels: “Cord Cut Billow” technology was developed to improve surface finish, stability, and overall wing performance. To achieve this, the upper-surface leading-edge panels are cut with two slits along the chord (CCB) to ensure optimized surface area development of the cells. Along the airfoil, up to ten centimeters of excess fabric is created due to the bulging effect. This excess material is normally absorbed by the inter-cell folds, whereas the CCB, by approaching the ideal surface area, does more than simply minimize this defect. Reducing the folds also contributes to better rib formation, which improves their structural integrity.
Snap Locks from the Epic FreeStyle BGD
Snap Locks are lightweight, compact brake clips that allow you to attach the brakes to the risers effortlessly, thanks to small magnets inside the clip and a locking mechanism that holds the handle in place in all directions except toward the pilot. This unique design prevents the handles from falling off while inflating, folding, or performing certain maneuvers. The Snap Lock system solves many of the brake pressure issues that every pilot encounters.
