Description of the BGD EPIC 2
The EPIC 2 is reassuring and accessible for pilots with few flying hours. But its fun handling and performance will also delight more experienced pilots.
We have improved its inflation: the wing rises steadily and easily without overtaking the pilot. In flight, it is slightly faster than the EPIC (+1 km/h with arms raised, +3 km/h at maximum speed) and has better glide ratio. It is also a super agile wing in thermals and formidable in weak conditions.
Its long control travel ensures that you won't stall or spin unintentionally, but its handling will always remain precise, playful, and direct. The EPIC 2 is safe and reassuring in lively conditions, and its progressive stability will always give you the right level of information about the air mass. The wing's communication is the key to our "Eyes Wide Open" technology: the wing transmits the right information about the air mass so you can improve your positioning in thermals, as well as anticipate and avoid collapses.
As with the BASE 2, the new EPIC 2 has a specific rear control system connecting the B and C lines, allowing you to control the wing while using the accelerator to fly faster and more efficiently.

It will be perfect for your first cross-country flights or for discovering new flying spots. And, like the first generation of EPIC, it's a great wing for playing and exploring the limits of the flight envelope. Designer's notes
The EPIC has been an incredible wing in the EN-B access category. Its combination of accessibility, safety, and handling is the benchmark, and it was very important for us to maintain this mix. The new EPIC 2 therefore retains these qualities and offers improved glide and incredible efficiency in thermals, with the added bonus of slightly higher speed compared to the original.
Although it boasts the same qualities, a lot has changed between the designs of the two wings. The new EPIC 2 now has 45 cells and an aspect ratio of 5.2, which is slightly more than the first EPIC. Its internal structure is also more complex, but despite all this, the wing retains the same weight: 4.9 kg in size M. The risers are completely new and the line cone is a mix of bare lines at the top and sheathed lines at the bottom.
The Epic 2 has short stiffeners in the leading edge and none in the trailing edge, making it easy to pack. The one-piece leading edge plastics are made of different materials: stiffer struts in the center and softer, more flexible supports towards the tips. It's a lightweight, elegant, and effective way to shape the leading edge.
As with the BASE 2 and CURE 2, we have also doubled the leading edge intrados, creating an internal flap that helps maintain pressure and creates a more stable and clean leading edge.
