Tandem paraglider Ozone Magnum 4
Tandem paraglider Ozone Magnum 4
Overall, the sheer amount of technology inherent in the Magnum 4 has made tandem flying the easiest and least technical we've ever experienced. The simplicity and low-stress nature of takeoff, flight, and landing have brought a new level of joy and comfort to our tandem flights, and we look forward to hearing feedback from professional pilots on this new design.
THE PROFESSIONAL TWO-SEATER CHOICE
The Magnum is the all-new tandem wing designed for professional tandem pilots. Durable and versatile for any pro pilot, it excels in all conditions.
- Used by professional tandem pilots around the world.
-
Easy to take off and land.
-
Easy to handle, piloting comparable to a solo wing.
-
Durable design and materials.
We tested this new twin-engine aircraft at various sites to ensure it was suitable for all types of flight. It took off very well in no wind and climbed progressively in strong winds. In flight, its pitch and roll stability ensured a comfortable flight, and its handling is characteristic of OZONE, ensuring precise and dynamic piloting.
Fewer diagonals and more attachment points allow for a more balanced load distribution across the wing. Its 5.11 aspect ratio and 46 cells provide impeccable surface finish and excellent performance, while maintaining easy inflation and limited wing weight. The Magnum's profile is a new design, created specifically to meet the demands of tandem flight. Its planform and internal wing pressure have also been designed to achieve pleasant control tension, easy takeoffs, and performance.
The Magnum's fabric is made entirely of Porcher Marine; the upper surface is made of the new Porcher Skytex 45 Evolution. This new material is extremely resistant to wear and stretch, creating a feeling of greater precision in flight and ensuring the longevity of the wing.
“This is the best tandem I have ever flown. Its handling is amazing, but its best feature is undoubtedly the ease of takeoff and landing. I haven't missed one yet, even in the most turbulent conditions here in India!”
John Silvester, somewhere in the Himalayas.
Designer's Notes
THE CONCEPT
The Magnum is a completely new design and has little in common with our previous tandem wings. The Magnum's mission is to provide the ease of use, performance, durability, and excellent handling that professional tandem pilots value so highly.
Pros need a wing that makes their job easier. The wing must be progressive when inflated, with little pitch and the best possible flare to land easily even in the worst conditions.
These attributes are crucial, but we wanted to go a step further and add performance and handling to make the Magnum the absolute must-have wing for professionals. The feedback is that the Magnum is the easiest, most enjoyable, and most maneuverable tandem on the market, and after a year of existence, its sales continue to increase, which says it all...
Another advantage is its resistance to wear and tear, ensuring professional use. The wing's planform and materials were chosen to ensure the Magnum performs well over many seasons of professional activity.
NEW FEATURES
This is a completely new wing. The profile we use was specifically developed for the Magnum. It took more than a year of testing to achieve the results we wanted: pitch stability for progressive inflation and easy landing, solid performance, and reduced control tension.
The new internal structure prevents sail deformation for greater performance and longevity. There are therefore more line attachment points on the wing to allow less stress on each line and mechanically less tension on each attachment and bulkhead. All the wing's cells are reinforced with diagonals, completing the load distribution system.
Extrados: Skytex 45 Evolution for 2 reasons:
1. Skytex fabric is lighter: this is an important factor when you regularly fly a tandem and also for the wing's behavior in flight.
2. It's also a stiff fabric, which means less fabric deformation and greater durability. This also means a more comfortable ride and easier cornering.
The Magnum (41m2) is smaller than our previous tandems. We chose to downsize to achieve a lighter wing, a more pleasant control feel, and better handling. Its smaller size is one of the factors that gives the Magnum almost the same feel as a solo wing. Performance has not been sacrificed by making this downsize thanks to the all-new profile.
4 more cells for a well-finished wing.
A greater extension going from 4.7 for the McDaddy to 5.1 for the Magnum.
40 m of suspension reduction.
Reduced and better balanced internal pressure across the wingspan, which led to lighter control pressure and a smoother feeling in the air.
