X-LITE – The ultra-light reserve parachute for Hike & Fly
Weighing in at a mere 741 g ( 80 version) and 869 g ( 95 version), the X LITE isone of the lightest reserve parachutes on the market. Specially designed for Hike & Fly enthusiasts, it combines safety, reliability, and innovative technology for a stable and controlled descent.
Its risers, developed in partnership with COUSIN Trestec, are inspired by climbing equipment for increased strength and optimal force absorption during deployment.
Details
Ultra-light, ultra-compact, 100% Hike & Fly.
The X LITE was designed to meet the needs of pilots seeking lightness without compromising safety. Thanks to an optimized design and careful selection of materials, it weighs just 741 g (80 version) and 869 g (95 version)—among the lightest on the market.
Innovation for Your Safety
The X LITE introduces a revolutionary riser, developed in partnership with COUSIN Trestec. Inspired by climbing equipment, it uses parallel-core braiding technology that combines high strength with controlled elasticity. This flexibility allows for better energy absorption during parachute deployment, thereby reducing stress on the canopy and enabling the use of lighter fabrics without sacrificing performance.
A design built for stability
The panels are designed to form a flatter arch, ensuring a smooth and stable descent. The ingenious “spiderweb” assembly effectively distributes loads toward the edges, minimizing localized stress points and ensuring durability and safety even with lightweight materials.
Simplicity and Efficiency
The X LITE makes folding easier thanks to a color-coding system on the lines and visual markers on the panels. In just a few minutes, your reserve parachute is perfectly folded, ready for your next flight.
Optimized Pod
The original pod, with its two-stage opening flaps, minimizes the risk of interference between the lines and the pod. It weighs only 17 g. The X LITE can also be installed in another pod, provided that the opening system is tested to ensure it functions properly.
At the Heart of Ultralight Flying
Imagine a reserve parachute so light and compact that you almost forget it's there. Weighing as little as741 grams, the X LITE offers unmatched lightness and compactness.
Its light weight isn't its only advantage: thanks to its unmatched compactness, it has a small volume of just2.02 Linsize 80. This allows you to reduce weight without compromising on safety.
Designed forHike& Fly enthusiastsseekingperformanceandlightness, the X LITE strikes a balance between technical innovation and minimalism. It’s a must-have for pilots looking for a lightweight wing whowon’t compromise on safety.
The DYNALINK Innovation
Our designers’ initial goal was ambitious:to design the world’s lightest emergency parachutewhilemaintaining the highest level of safety and durability.
To achieve this, the major challenge for the parachute is to pass the certification tests, which subject it to extreme stress. The lighter the product, the more likely its structure is to be compromised, which prevents it from passing this crucial stage.
To meet this challenge, SUPAIR partnered withCOUSIN Trestecandleveraged their expertise in rope technologies to develop a new kind of hoist: the DYNALINK.
Today, most parachutes are equipped with a static line as well as reinforcements in the canopy to absorb the impact upon opening and ensure the parachute remains intact.
DYNALINK, on the other hand, takes a completely different approach. Thanks tothe elasticity of the materials used, the elevator absorbs some of the energy by deforming, thereby reducing the stresses placed on the rest of the structure. Once the energy has been absorbed, the elevator returns to its original shape. This operation is therefore non-destructive.
The use of this new technologyallows forthe use oflighter materialsthanwhen the impact is absorbed solely by the reinforcements. Thanks to this innovation, for which a patent is pending, the X LITEpushes the boundaries of ultra-lightweight designwhileeasily passing all the certification and safety tests required by industry standards.
A durable parachute
The materials and design techniques used in the X LITE give it incrediblestrengthrelative toits weight.
Just like the dynamic elevator, the panel cutouts and their arrangement are designed todissipateanddistribute the forces and pressuresto whichthe parachute is subjected during deployment.
This “spiderweb” design instantly distributes the stresses moreevenlyacrossthe entire wing, thereby preventing these forces from concentrating at any single point.
Simple and intuitive folding
We believe that a parachute should be easy to pack so that the pilot can adhere to the recommended packing intervals and thus ensure his or her safety.
Although the X LITE is a high-end, lightweight, high-performance parachute, it is stilleasy to foldthanksto itsnumerous visual guides. These markings show you exactly where to hold the panels to fold this square parachute correctly.
Whether it'sthe color-codedlinesto divide the canopy, thetiestogather the panels, or themarkingsforprecise folding, the X LITE simplifies the folding process as much as possible.
No Compromises on Safety
The XLITE'ssquare design providesgreater stabilityfor theparachute during descent, resulting in a high level of passive safety.
Toslow a parachute’s descent speed, the canopy must be designed to orient itself as perpendicular as possible to the descent path. That is why the X LITE’s profile is fully smoothed to increase the surface area oriented along this axis.
This optimization of the parachute ensures compliance with this key safety criterion, resulting in areduced and safe descent rate.
The DYNALINK Innovation – Exclusive Technology for Lightweight Design and Safety
At SUPAIR, the goal was clear: to create the world’s lightest emergency parachute without compromising safety. To meet this challenge, we partnered with the rope specialists at COUSIN Trestec to develop a major innovation:the DYNALINK riser.
A radically new approach
Unlike conventional gliders, the DYNALINK uses the elasticity of its fibers to absorb some of the energy generated during opening. Thisdynamic damping capability reduces the stresses placed on the canopy, allowing for the use of lighter materials while still meeting the most stringent certification standards.
The elevator then returns to its original shape without damage, ensuring non-destructive operation and extended service life.
An ultra-lightweight, ultra-strong structure
The X LITE makes no compromises when it comes to durability. Every panel, every seam, and every reinforcement has been designed to effectively dissipate forces during deployment.
Thanks to its “spiderweb” architecture, stress is distributed evenly across the entire wing, preventing any points of concentrated force.
This structural optimization achieves an exceptional weight-to-strength ratio, making the X LITE the gold standard in ultra-light reserve parachutes.
Simplified folding, designed with pilots in mind
No matter how high-performance a parachute may be, it must still be easy to maintain. The X LITE features numerous visual cues (color codes, markings on the panels, grouping straps) to simplify folding. Just follow the instructions, and in a few minutes, your parachute will be folded correctly—no stress, no guesswork.
Uncompromising security
The X LITE's square design ensures a stable descent, providing enhanced passive safety.
Its optimized profile maximizes the surface area facing away from the fall path, effectively reducing descent speed. The result: a stable descent, a controlled fall, and optimal safety, even under the most demanding conditions.
