Description
Description
The Yeti 6 is the wing to discover. Whether you are a young pilot discovering the joys of flight or a more experienced adventurer setting out to explore a new playground, the Yeti 6 is made for you.
The Yeti 6 suits all piloting levels depending on the chosen wing loading. Suited for hike & fly, from post-initiation training up to your first thermal flights. At high wing loading, the Yeti 6 becomes playful and offers dynamic handling.
Compact in the air...
Thanks to its new planform and arc, the wing is agile in turns while remaining very stable in roll. It is compact and well-balanced in the air under all conditions. The line set is a carefully chosen mix of sheathed lower and intermediate lines and unsheathed upper lines.
...And on the ground
We spared no detail in reducing weight and pack volume. Titanium (Nitinol) rods are used instead of plastic ones, and the trailing and leading-edge reinforcements have been removed or replaced with lightweight 5mm hemmed Mylar tapes wherever possible. The internal structure has been optimized to reduce weight by precisely selecting the number of line attachment points. The result? A smaller, more compact, and lighter bag so you can travel without constraints.
First-class thermalling
Some mountain wings leave something to be desired when it comes to thermal performance. Not so with the Yeti 6. The planform, airfoil, arc, canopy tension, and swept-back wingtips work together to promote flat and efficient turning behavior. The Yeti 6 can be used for much more than just coming down the mountain!
Beginners are welcome
The handling of the Yeti 6 has been tuned and refined to suit everyone, including newcomers to the world of free flight. The goal was to achieve a more damped character than its predecessor, while remaining playful enough for more experienced mountain flight pilots. The brake travel is long and progressive, yet the feedback is direct, with no tendency to enter a parachutal stall or spin if the pilot inadvertently pulls too much brake. Flying the Yeti 6 is a pure pleasure, and pilots turning to hike & fly need look no further for their post-school wing.
High wing loading, no problem
The unique feature of the Yeti 6 is not only its ability to offer an incredibly wide range of flyable wing loadings, but above all its ability to maintain unrivalled stability across that entire range. EN A certification was achieved even at high wing loadings thanks to the wing's inherent stability across all axes.
Forgiving launch behavior
Thanks to its profile, the Yeti 6 quickly stabilizes overhead, settles into the harness, and even provides a gentle forward surge during light-wind launches. In stronger winds, the wing behaves equally well, without shooting or hanging back. Whatever your skill level and terrain, the Yeti 6 ensures a successful launch.
Yeti Compress concertina bag
A specially designed compression bag is available as an option for the Yeti 6. The Yeti Compress folds 5 times, ensuring the most compact volume possible and a perfect fit in your hiking backpack.
X-Lite 40L backpack
This 40-liter backpack is perfectly tailored to accommodate your Yeti 6 packed inside the Yeti Compress. Equipped with essential mountaineering features such as an ice axe attachment, ski carriers, pole attachments, and flask pockets, the X-Lite backpack is designed for mountain adventure.
A word from the designer
Designer Gin Seok Song explains the philosophy of the Yeti 6
The Yeti 6 incorporates all the lessons learned from the Yeti 5 and the Bolero 7.
Our priority was to combine the climbing performance, ease of use, and stability of the Bolero 7 while retaining the low packing volume and weight of the Yeti 5. The result is a wing that is easy to launch and climbs with a flat, efficient turn. At the same time, it delivers higher performance than its predecessor while being less demanding to pilot.
We believe this is a significant step forward that will appeal to a wide range of mountain pilots.
