Description
The BASE 3 is BGD’s B-class glider. Our optimization software has allowed us to improve performance without increasing the aspect ratio compared to the BASE 2. The BASE 3 is part of our third-generation design family, led by the DIVA 2. They share many similarities; a pronounced canopy, short lines, and curved wingtips give it a very distinctive silhouette, as well as multiple advantages in terms of performance and stability.
Like the LYNX 2, it is a 2.5-line glider. The performance gain from the reduced number of lines is enhanced by the optimized diameter of the exposed lines. The line configuration also provides a two-line feel with very pleasant rear-line control.
The BASE 3 is very stable in pitch with a very low tendency to overshoot the pilot; nevertheless, it remains responsive and provides just the right amount of feedback at all times. And, in a first for BGD, the wing is equipped with winglets; a conservative choice that helps the wing exit deep spirals.
The BASE 3 is a comfortable wing with incredible glide; it’s the tool that will allow pilots to break their personal cross-country records while feeling safe and in control.
