Description
Description
Discover the Light 2 SQR , the ultimate companion for the skies, designed to meet the most extreme demands of paragliding, such as those of the 2023 X-Alps. Launched just before this iconic competition, the Light 2 SQR was quickly adopted by our athletes for its exceptional performance.
Description
SQR 's Light 2 project was launched just before the 2023 X-Alps. We certified the Light 2 in size 100 specifically for the competition—while it was still in an intermediate stage of development—and equipped our athletes with it. Thanks to its minimal weight and volume, the SQR Light 2 was the ideal companion for such a demanding competition. Following this test, the other sizes were also developed.
Less weight and more surface area
The new Light- SQR s aren’t just lighter—they’re also larger. Weight is reduced by up to 6%, and surface area increases by up to 3%, depending on the size. As a result, the minimum sink rate improves to 5.1 m/s. The size 100 model, weighing 880 g, falls below the magic 900-gram mark. Another highlight is the tandem reserve, which is now approved for up to 200, kg s and weighs only 1,847 g. The Companion SQR Light 2 line thus offers, to the best of our knowledge, the lightest reserve parachutes on the market.
State-of-the-art materials
The Light 2 SQR uses a newly developed Ultralight fabric created in collaboration with Dominico Textile, which features high structural strength and offers the same high water resistance as its predecessor. In addition, lines from the European manufacturer Edelrid—specially designed for rescue applications—are being used for the first time. The line configuration was specifically designed to meet the requirements of a rescue operation in terms of elongation and breaking strength. All new materials underwent extensive long-term testing in collaboration with the manufacturers.
