BGD Lynx 2 paraglider

The LYNX 2 is our lightweight EN-C wing. It offers excellent cross-country performance and high comfort for its category. It is designed to inspire confidence even in the most challenging flying conditions and keep you safe when you unleash your wild side in the mountains.

We opted for a 2.5-line hybrid design for this kite for several reasons: a two-line kite would require more support rods in the sail, resulting in a larger packing volume. We wanted the LYNX 2 to be easy to pack and compact for touring and racing.

The Lynx 2 is also much easier to roll up for a safe top landing in wild terrain, as the three-line configuration in the center of the wing provides a large braking range and forgiving stall characteristics. It is also incredibly easy to launch.

Audience
The Lynx 2 is the perfect partner for cross-country pilots who travel light and freely, and for those who move quickly through their habitat without leaving a trace. It is ideal for mountain hike-and-fly races, where its efficiency and performance combine with excellent safety and relaxed handling. It is also ideal for new series-class competitions. This competitive aircraft is also accessible to pilots moving up from Class B.

Designer's Notes
Weighing in at 3.2kg to 4.3kg across five sizes, the LYNX 2 is one of the lightest wings in its class, without sacrificing durability. We used 32gsm fabric in strategic locations to reinforce the leading edge where it's needed most. We also shaved a few grams off the risers, choosing easy-to-handle 12mm Kevlar-reinforced webbing over lace-like Dyneema.

The LYNX 2 is more accessible and easier to fly than the CURE 2, with a slightly lower aspect ratio and cell count.

Light, responsive, and precise, its handling and performance feel give it the feel and performance of a two-line wing, while offering the safety, lightness of rear riser steering, and handling characteristics of a three-line wing. Tyr flew a pre-production LYNX 2 in Costa Rica and reported that it was very relaxing in strong, turbulent conditions. “You can do almost the entire flight on the rear risers!”

Impressive braking range and good low-speed handling allow the LYNX 2 to easily land at heights or squeeze into tight spaces. This is one of the reasons why we opted for a 2.5-line hybrid design rather than a two-line.

The new risers feature an improved throttle system and a lightweight, efficient rear-riser steering system. The LYNX 2 is incredibly efficient at the helm!

The LYNX 2 uses our innovative Spiral Safety System. A rib without transverse vents, just inside the stabilizer, allows the wing's tip cells to lose pressure when the wing is in a deep spiral. This allows the wing to automatically recover from the deepest spirals, without any pilot intervention.
