BGD ADAM 2 sail!

From your first flight to precision competitions, free your mind.

Safety was the top priority when designing this paraglider. BGD has put all its expertise into creating a wing that is ideal for beginners. The Adam 2 is a "school" wing that forgives mistakes to eliminate apprehension on your first big flights, as well as your first thermals.

On takeoff

The lines are sheathed and colored, for easier untangling, which can often be a source of stress during learning. Excellent inflation behavior and equally effective handling will reassure beginners during this important phase of flight.

In flight

The very high stability on the pitch, roll and yaw axes will allow students to feel comfortable in their harnesses. The large control travel with a very progressive and "understandable" stall point will make the Adam 2 an ideal ally for learning in complete safety.

Technical specifications

Optimized suspension plan

The line plan is an integral part of sail design. The sail and lines are designed together as a unit. The width of the cells, and the inter-cells that transfer the load through the sail, are designed in accordance with the line plan. The same goes for the shape of the panels, designed through extensive CAD simulations. The result is simple: fewer lines result in a stronger, faster, and safer wing.

Progressive stability

BGD wings are designed to inform the pilot as soon as they encounter moderate turbulence, rather than collapsing suddenly when they hit truly turbulent terrain. According to Bruce Goldsmith, "a single-piece wing that is very stable and almost never collapses can lead to an increased risk of an accident," because when a collapse occurs, the pilot is not expecting it, it is usually massive, and they have acquired little experience in dealing with such a situation.

Cord Cut Billow

Special cutting of the leading edge panels: the "Cord Cut Billow" technology was developed to improve the surface finish, stability, and more generally the performance of BGD paragliders. For this, the upper surface panels of the leading edge are made with two cuts along the chord, in order to ensure an optimized surface development of the cells. Along the profile, up to ten centimeters of excess fabric are created by the boudinage effect. This excess material is normally absorbed by the inter-cell folds, whereas the CCB, by approaching the ideal surface development, does not simply minimize this defect.

Elliptical opening of the boxes

BGD found that an elliptical opening of the boxes allows for better distribution of tensions on the intrados, which gives a smoother inflation and a more gradual re-inflation following closure.

Dedicated ear lift

BGD added a dedicated riser for the ears, which also has a 1/2 reduction ratio compared to the central A's. This makes the ears easy to perform and also improves stability and accelerated speed.
