The EPIC FREESTYLE can perform maneuvers and transitions, but its real beauty, and the reason instructors love it so much, is that it is truly forgiving. It will allow you to explore and master maneuvers but will save you if you get the timing a little wrong.

The Epic Freestyle from BGD is an ideal paraglider for beginners, with its EN-B certification, it will remain forgiving in the event of poor timing. Derived from the Epic 1, it will also satisfy you very well when flying locally or for distance.

Technical specifications of the Epic FreeStyle by BGD

Diagonal rib C with three branches

Along the entire length of the profile, BGD has designed a diagonal support consisting of three pieces that pass through openings in the adjacent ribs. These ensure structural integrity and provide a stronger wing even when the brakes are used. This is particularly important near the trailing edge, as the profile is thin there and the diagonals have little height to support the load.

Weight-optimized ribs on the BGD Epic FreeStyle

BGD has maintained the strength and rigidity of the ribs while removing all unnecessary fabric. This ensures reduced weight without additional manufacturing costs or weakening the wing. The size and position of the holes are calculated based on local loads on the wing, and it is thanks to recent software developments that BGD can calculate this accurately.

Cord Cut Billow of the BGD Epic FreeStyle

Special cutting of leading edge panels: Cord Cut Billow technology was developed to improve surface finish, stability, and overall wing performance. To achieve this, the leading edge upper panels are cut with two cuts along the chord (CCB) to ensure optimized cell surface development. Along the profile, up to ten centimeters of excess fabric is created by the billowing effect. This excess material is normally absorbed by the inter-cell folds, whereas CCB, by approaching the ideal surface development, does more than simply minimize this defect. The reduction in folds also contributes to better rib shaping, which improves performance.

Snap Locks of the BGD Epic FreeStyle

Snap Locks are lightweight and compact brake attachments that allow brakes to be attached to risers effortlessly thanks to small magnets inside the attachment and a locking system that holds the handle in all directions except towards the pilot. This unique design prevents the handles from falling off when inflating, folding, or performing certain maneuvers. The Snap Lock system solves many of the brake pressure issues that every pilot encounters.
