BGD Epic FreeStyle Paraglider
BGD Epic FreeStyle Paraglider
The EPIC FREESTYLE can do the maneuvers and transitions, but its real beauty, and the reason instructors love it so much, is that it is truly forgiving. It will allow you to explore and master the maneuvers but will save the day if you get the timing a little off.
The Epic Freestyle from BGD is an ideal paraglider for beginners in hang gliding, with its EN-B certification, it will remain tolerant in case of bad timing. Derived from the Epic 1, it will also satisfy you very well in on-site or cross-country flights.
Technical specifications from BGD's Epic FreeStyle
Three-branched diagonal C rib
Along the entire chord of the profile, BGD designed a diagonal support consisting of 3 pieces that pass through openings in the adjacent ribs. They provide structural integrity and ensure a stronger wing even when the brakes are applied. This is especially important near the trailing edge since the profile is thin there and the diagonals have little height to support the load.
Weight-optimized ribs on the BGD Epic FreeStyle
BGD has maintained the strength and stiffness of the ribs while removing all unnecessary fabric. This ensures reduced weight without additional manufacturing cost or weakening the wing. The size and position of the holes are calculated based on the local loads on the wing, and it is thanks to recent software developments that BGD can calculate this precisely.
Cord Cut Billow from the BGD Epic FreeStyle
Special cutting of the leading edge panels: the "Cord Cut Billow" technology was developed to improve the surface condition, stability, and more generally the performance of the sails. For this, the extrados panels of the leading edge are made with two cuts along the chord (CCB), in order to ensure an optimized surface development of the cells. Along the profile, up to ten centimeters of excess fabric are created by the boudinage effect. This excess material is normally absorbed by the inter-cell folds, while the CCB by approaching the ideal surface development does not simply minimize this defect. The reduction of folds also contributes to a better shaping of the ribs, which improves their behavior.
Snap Locks from the BGD Epic FreeStyle
Snap Locks are lightweight and compact brake clips that allow you to attach brakes to the risers effortlessly thanks to small magnets inside the clip and a locking system that holds the handle in all directions except towards the rider. This unique concept prevents the handles from falling off when inflating, bending or performing certain maneuvers. The Snap Lock system solves many of the brake pressure problems that every rider encounters.
