OZONE ALPINA GT Paraglider

Based on the Alpina 4, the semi-lightweight Alpina GT (4.5 kg in ML size) will offer the renowned agility and efficiency of the Alpina series, with an even more robust construction.

Intro

The Alpina 4 GT features the new Ozone livery and a more robust upper surface fabric. It is aimed at drivers who appreciate the handling, maneuverability and performance of a classic 3-row EN-C and do not need the extra performance provided by the 2-row architecture.

What's new

The Alpina 4 GT is an Alpina 4 featuring the new Ozone graphics and a more robust upper surface fabric. Dominico 20D32 replaces the combination of Dominico 20D and Skytex 27 to improve durability and robustness, especially on abrasive terrain, with minimal impact on the sail weight.

The pilot

The Alpina 4 GT is aimed at intermediate to advanced pilots who fly 70 to 100 hours per year and who have already completed a SIV. Its ease of use and high level of passive safety make it accessible to pilots looking to move up a category. Those who appreciate the handling and performance of the Alpina 4 and Delta 4 and want to continue with the same technology will immediately feel at home with the Alpina 4 GT.

Technology

The intuitive active angle of attack control system, the proven profile and an optimized internal structure make the Alpina 4 GT a cross-country machine. The very solid structure reduces aerodynamic losses, even in marked turbulence the profile maintains its shape and therefore its efficiency by avoiding losses due to deformations in the chord.

Active Control Risers (ACR) allow direct action on the angle of attack without changing the profile camber, even in accelerated flight. By activating both the B and C risers, the ACR allows wing control that approaches a 2-line while maintaining the reassuring aspect of a 3-line architecture.

Certification

The Alpina 4 GT is EN-C certified in all sizes.

The flight

The Alpina 4 GT is 900g lighter than the Delta 5. The reduced weight of the sail translates into improved handling and performance due to reduced inertia – with improved agility, more sensitivity in thermals, and improved behavior when collapsing. Of course, it's also more comfortable to wear.

The Alpina 4 GT maintains the good sink rate of the Alpina/Delta 4, which ensures good thermal efficiency, and it passes through gusts by transforming them at altitude in the same way as competition wings. Over the entire speed range, the glide of this wing is among the best in its category.

The benign collapse behavior is the result of choices such as a relatively low aspect ratio but also of technical know-how on the structure, the architecture of the lines and the twisting of the wing. We have enough experience with the Alpina 4 GT to demonstrate its healthy behavior after an asymmetrical collapse – the wing is only very little subject to rotation or surge and it has good behavior after a frontal collapse.

The Ozone Shark Nose profile, by reducing the risk of spin and stall, makes landing at the top or on steep terrain relatively easy for a wing of this level of performance.

The feel of the controls evolves linearly - precise in the first part and authoritative in the second. The bank can be easily adjusted and the wing can be placed in the core of the thermal. The structural cohesion of the wing, and particularly of the chord, ensures excellent coordination between roll and pitch, providing a feeling of agility and pleasure.
