OZONE ALPINA GT Paraglider

Based on the Alpina 4, the Alpina GT, semi-lightweight (4.5 kg in size ML), will offer the renowned agility and efficiency of the Alpina series, with an even more robust construction.

Intro

The Alpina 4 GT features the new Ozone livery and a more robust upper surface fabric. It is designed for pilots who appreciate the handling, maneuverability, and performance of a classic EN-C 3-line wing and do not need the extra performance offered by a 2-line design.

What's new

The Alpina 4 GT is an Alpina 4 featuring the new Ozone graphics and a more robust upper surface fabric. Dominico 20D32 replaces the combination of Dominico 20D and Skytex 27 to improve durability and robustness, especially on abrasive terrain, with minimal impact on the weight of the wing.

The pilot

The Alpina 4 GT is designed for intermediate to advanced pilots who fly between 70 and 100 hours per year and have already completed SIV training. Its ease of use and high level of passive safety make it accessible to pilots who want to move up a category. Those who appreciate the handling and performance of the Alpina 4 and Delta 4 and want to continue with the same technology will immediately feel at home with the Alpina 4 GT.

Technology

The intuitive active angle of attack control system, proven profile, and optimized internal structure make the Alpina 4 GT a cross-country machine. The extremely solid structure reduces aerodynamic losses, and even in significant turbulence, the profile retains its shape and therefore its performance, avoiding losses due to deformation in the chord.

Active Control Ropes (ACR) allow direct control of the angle of attack without changing the camber of the profile, even in accelerated flight. By activating both the B and C lines, the ACR provides control similar to a 2-line wing while retaining the reassuring aspect of a 3-line design.

Certification

The Alpina 4 GT is EN-C certified in all sizes.

The theft

The Alpina 4 GT is 900g lighter than the Delta 5. The reduction in weight translates into improved handling and performance due to reduced inertia – with better agility, greater sensitivity in thermals, and improved behavior in the event of a collapse. Of course, it's also more comfortable to carry.

The Alpina 4 GT retains the excellent sink rate of the Alpina/Delta 4, ensuring good thermal efficiency, and it handles gusts by transforming them into altitude in the same way as competition wings. Across the entire speed range, this wing's glide ratio is the best in its category.

The benign behavior during closure is the result of choices such as relatively low elongation, but also technical expertise in terms of structure, line architecture, and wing twist. We now have enough experience with the Alpina 4 GT to demonstrate its sound behavior after an asymmetric collapse – the wing is only slightly prone to rotation or stalling and performs well after a frontal collapse.

The Ozone Shark Nose profile, by reducing the risk of spins and stalls, makes landing at the top or on steep terrain relatively easy for a wing of this performance level.

The feel at the controls evolves linearly—precise in the first part and authoritative in the second. You can easily adjust the angle and position the wing in the core of the thermal. The structural cohesion of the wing, particularly the chord, ensures excellent coordination between roll and pitch, providing a feeling of agility and enjoyment.
